The Dermatology Center for Animals (DCA) is seeking a talented and motivated veterinary technician. We are located in South Lake Union area in Seattle. You will work directly with our 2 dermatologists and other assistants during exams, diagnostics, and dermatology specialty procedures. Our doctors are Adjunct Professors of Dermatology at Washington State University and frequently host senior veterinary students for their clinical dermatology externship. Although not mandatory, an ideal candidate is one who is passionate about teaching.
At DCA, you will be expected to work closely with our dermatologists and other assistants in the daily flow of appointments and procedures. You will be expected to provide high quality service to our clients and humane care to pets. The candidates needs to be a team player, friendly, outgoing, compassionate, people-oriented, and possess excellent communication and client service skills. DCA seeks an individual who is open to learning new and possibly different technical approaches. Additionally, you will be expected to learn or have knowledge of specialized medical equipment such as video-otoscopy and irrigation, CO2 laser, microscopy, and to perform blood collections, IV catheter placement, patient restraint, and advising pet owners on proper care and follow up.

-Basic keyboarding skills and basic knowledge of of Microscope office, Outlook, Word, Excel; experience with Animal Intelligence is a plus
-Although specialty dermatology experience is not required, a strong interest in dermatology will be preferred
-Obtain and record patient case history
-Collect samples and perform laboratory procedures
-Provide specialized patient and client care
-Assist in client follow-up
-Prepare animals, instruments, and clinical equipment
-Assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures
-Assist in maintaining inventory and supplies
-Must be able to lift 40 pounds
