Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon opened its doors in May of 2018 and we are in need of a Technician for our Dermatology Service. We are a group of enthusiastic specialists who want to bring an amazing level of specialty and emergency care to the pets of Central Oregon. Our hospital also has internal medicine, surgery, and emergency services in addition to dermatology.

Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon is seeking a full time veterinary technician who embodies these values. The technician will work under our Dermatologist primarily but will be expected to work with our other departments (surgery, internal medicine, and emergency).
Specific Duties May Include *Triage, admit, and treat patients under doctor supervision *Develop good relationships with clients *Take samples for cytology and learn microscopic techniques *Assist with surgical procedures (biopsies and mass removals) and processing instruments *Perform intradermal skin testing on patients and create allergy vaccines (immunotherapy) *Perform physical exams *Place intravenous catheters *Work in multiple departments including emergency, internal medicine, dermatology and surgery. *Monitor and provide treatments to current in-patients *Calculate drug doses and fill medications *Communicate discharge instructions effectively and accurately to clients *The technician may occasionally be responsible for receptionist duties when the receptionist is unavailable. These duties include answering phones, scheduling appointments, admitting patients, and settling bills *Implement isolation protocols *Take and process radiographs and perform advanced imaging *Collect samples (blood, urine) and run in-house laboratory tests *Maintain a clean hospital environment *Maintain a happy, collaborative and positive attitude under stressful situations

Preferred Skills and Experience: *Three years of previous veterinary technician experience or have a two-year degree by an accredited veterinary technician program *Perform triage and take history in an efficient manner *Ability to learn new veterinary software and accurately update medical records *Ability to restrain dogs and cats *Excellent communication skills with owners and staff *Competency with inducing and managing patients under sedation/anesthesia *Capable of lifting large dogs
